Messi's goodbye is closer and closer. Everything points to the Argentine soon putting an end to a historic spell at Barcelona, but there are still very important links that neither club nor player want to break.
For that reason, according to 'Goal', Messi has reportedly got in touch with the Barcelona board to arrange a meeting in the next few days in order to reach an amicable agreement to calm the waters, that today are still very messy because of how direct his request to the club was (to let him out for free so he could go to England).
Barcelona think that Messi is one of the greatest assets in the history of the club, and so they will not stand in the way of his exit if that is what the '10' wants at all costs. Meanwhile, City are still waiting to reunite him with Pep Guardiola again.
Few clubs will be able to afford a salary like Messi in the squad. The Argentine wants to intercede in his departure for that very reason, to avoid that City, his choice to leave the Camp Nou, have to pay, in addition, a high transfer fee.
From the humiliating defeat against Bayern Munich, everything has been rushed: the fax, the interest from City... Messi is more decided than ever about leaving Barca, but that doesn't mean that he's going to do so abruptly.
On the other hand, it's expected that after the meeting with the board, in which they will clear up the terms of his exit, the Argentine star will appear in front of the media after some absolutely crazy days surrounding his future.
