David Alaba is aware of the quality Mbappe has and they could be teammates next season if Real Madrid manage to sign him. In the press conference to present him as a Real Madrid player, the Austrian spoke about what he can provide to the club, about choosing Ramos number 4 shirt and Mbappe.
"Mbappe? He's a world class player and I think it's indisputable that he's a player with enormous quality and, of course, I think it's something which does not affect me on a personal level (whether he comes or not). You'd have to ask other people that question," Alaba said. He also referred to Real Madrid president Florentino Perez and his team.
A journalist asked him later on whether he thought the team were good enough to fight for the Champions League. Straight after that, he was asked again on the French striker's possible arrival. "Of course I'm 100% convinced that, this season, we can play good football," he said. He did not comment on the Mbappe question.
David Alaba also talked about his arrival at Real Madrid in the same tone as in his first interviews after the news became official. "I personally decided on Real Madrid to grow as a player and a person. I received a lot of offers, but I did not think about any more because I think this is the challenge I was looking for," he said.
