De Jong enjoyed a breakthrough season last term, becoming a fixture in the Ajax side and attracting interest from a host of top European clubs as a result.
Barcelona and Manchester City had been thought to be leading the chase for the 21-year-old's signature, but more recent reports indicate that PSG and Real Madrid are also very keen a move.
Speaking to 'France Football', Mbappe said that he we be happy to see his side make a move for the Dutchman, with his performances in the recent UEFA Nations League games between France and Holland having caught Mbappe's eye.
"He is a player who really impressed me during our two matches with the Netherlands," Mbappe enthused.
"His vision and the quality of his passing that breaks the lines make him very valuable, especially because he also intercepts a considerable amount of balls.
"Honestly, he is very welcome in Paris! I said to him as much, because he would be enormous for us. After that, he will make his own choice."
Barcelona saw several bids for de Jong rejected by Ajax last summer, but with PSG's Adrien Rabiot looking destined to move to the Camp Nou when his contract retires at the end of the season, the French side may have one less competitor in the race to sign de Jong.
Ajax are believed to have slapped a £66m asking price on de Jong's head, though it remains to be seen if that is a figure PSG can match given the ongoing investigation into the club over alleged Financial Fair Play breaches.
