If anyone thought that the Mbappe saga was over, they were badly mistaken. The French footballer is still on Real Madrid's radar. In addition, it is not the first time there are either comments made or rumours over the Frenchman's short term future.
If that were not enough, 'GOL' says that club president Florentino Perez believes his arrival is close. Journalist Sergio Quirante said that a group of fans approached him after leaving the stadium following the Villarreal game and told him the news.
"Mbappe is coming next year." These were the exact words which reportedly came out of the Madrid president's mouth when asked about the chances of Mbappe signing for Real Madrid.
It may not be certain he will join the club next season, but it is true that Mbappe has always wanted to move to the Bernabeu. The striker had made it clear in the past that he wants to play for Real Madrid and he was very close to coming this summer.
However, PSG's refusal and his exorbitant price tag prevented a deal being reached. However, it was not the end of Real Madrid's hopes of signing the player. Florentino Perez will try once again next year and it will be easier to get him as Mbappe has no intention of renewing at the Parisian side and his contract expires in summer 2022.
