Kevin Mbabu has tested positive for coronavirus. Wolfsburg confirmed it in a statement on their website and social media. The club realised after COVID-19 tests carried out on their squad before training.
As a consequence, the footballer will not be able to be with the rest of his teammates and he must self isolate for two weeks at least. As soon as he spends his due time, he will have another test to check whether he has got the illness before returning to work.
"Kevin is asymptomatic. We will see what happens. In the last few months we were in close contact with the health minister for Wolfsburg as far as this is concerned," Marcel Schager, the club's sporting director said," the statement said.
In the same statement, it was made clear that no other footballer has tested positive in the tests. The rest of the results were negative and there is no threat to any other player. Mbabu has to wait though.
