Spain's Borja Mayoral scored his first Serie A goal on Sunday to propel Roma to a 3-0 win over Parma that moved them into second place in the league.

Mayoral, brought in by Roma on loan from Real Madrid, scored his first goal with the capital's team against Parma.

The striker was in the starting line-up due to the absence of Bosnian player Edin Dzeko due to coronavirus and took advantage of a spectacular assist by Leonardo Spinazzola in the 28th minute to score with a left-footed shot.

It was his first Serie A goal, after scoring twice in the Europa League, both against Romanian side Cluj before the national team break.

The 23-year-old Spanish striker's goal paved the way for Roma's victory, which was completed in the first half by the Armenian Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who scored a spectacular goal in the 32nd minute from outside the area and took advantage of an excellent cross by the Dutchman Rick Karsdorp to seal the match in the 40th minute.

The Roma team is still undefeated on the field this season and momentarily placed second, tied with Milan (one game in hand), just one point behind the surprisingly strong Sassuolo.

Roma's only defeat was a 3-0 administrative decision by the Serie A Sporting Judge in the first day's match against Hellas Verona, when there was an error in the capital team's roster.
