The former Napoli manager was rumoured for a long time to be on his way to the 'Blues' as a replacement for his compatriot Antonio Conte who had had various difficulties with the club's board in his time as manager.
Sarri was revealed to be the new boss at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and in an interview on Monday he was keen to set out how he wants to get the team back to winning ways.
"I want to play my football. I want to enjoy myself and probably to win something." the coach said.
"The players have to enjoy themselves. First of all, I hope the fans can enjoy the team. I want to bring enjoyment to the fans, the fans have to be proud of the team.".
While in charge of Napoli, he managed to lead the team in to a gripping race for the title against Juventus, who managed to clinch the Scudetto at the end of the campaign despite Sarri's best efforts.
The Italian revealed his first signing to be Jorginho, who joined him from Napoli in a £57 million deal and will be instrumental in midfield as he seeks to introduce his interpretatoin of who the game should be played to West London.
"Jorginho is not a physical player, he is a technical player. But the most important quality is that he is very quick in the mind. So he has the ability to move the ball very quickly." the former Empoli boss said.
His comments suggest that he fully expects to retain this footballing identity as he comes to the Premier League, a competition within which Pep Guardiola had so much success by playing in an expansive and offensive style last season with Man City.
Sarri is fully aware of the challenge of coming up against the likes of Guardiola, and will embrace it fully.
"It will be for me very exciting to play against Guardiola, to play against Pochettino, to play against Mourinho, to play against Klopp, and all the others."
