They may have a tough European quarter-final clash with Premier League rivals Manchester City fast-approaching but a former Bayern Munich star believes they can go the distance.
Lothar Matthaus told 'Sky Sports': "Liverpool are not afraid to play against Manchester City. They showed weeks ago how you can win against [them]. They have a good offence, they work better in the defence and this is the key to win titles.
"[Jurgen Klopp] has done a very good job. I was believing from the beginning that he and Liverpool have a very good relationship.
"You can see that in the good results, the good games and he has bought the right players. For me it is a team that can win the Champions League in two months in Kiev."
It will undoubtedly be a difficult task because even if they negotiate City in the quarter-finals, there is a good chance they will face defending champions Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona or Bayern in the semi-finals.
