Robins was unable to keep the club in League One last season, yet guided the Sky Blues to an immediate return to the third tier through play-off victory this season. The 48-year-old previously had a spell in charge during the 2012–2013 season.
He told the 'BBC': ''I'm delighted to extend my commitment to Coventry City and its supporters. The change from when I took over last March has been massive, both in terms of performances and the atmosphere around the club and city.''
''Since I've come back, the supporters have backed me and the players 100 per cent, and for me the reconnection between the players and the supporters is so important.''
Another of Robins' assistants, Steve Taylor, will not return to the club due to health issues. Taylor is having ongoing treatment for a bleed on the brain, which was discovered after he collapsed at the training ground back in August.
