Mariani will referee Borussia Dortmund-Barcelona

Italian referee Maurizio Mariani will referee the second leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona in the German city, while Spaniard Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez will referee the Aston Villa-PSG game in Birmingham.
This will be the first time that Mariani, 43 and an international since 2019, has refereed a Barcelona game and the second time he has refereed Dortmund, with whom he has only met in one Champions League group stage game in the 2022-2023 season in which the German side beat Sevilla 4-1.
Mariani will be part of an all-Italian refereeing corps with Daniele Bindoni and Alberto Tegoni on the sidelines, Simone Sozza as the fourth official and Marco Di Belo and Daniele Doveri in the VAR room.
He has appeared in up to six matches in Europe's top competition this season, including Lille-Real Madrid and Girona-Arsenal. The most recent of these was the first leg of the quarter-final between Paris Saint-Germain and Aston Villa. The second leg of that tie will be officiated this time by Spaniard Jose Maria Sanchez Martinez.
