Marcelo wants to renew with Madrid and would not mind lowering his salary

Marcelo, a Real Madrid veteran who is taking a step back for the generational replacement of Ferland Mendy, finishes his contract this summer and the club has no plans to renew him, but he would like to. 'Telemadrid' claims that it is his objective and that, in order to achieve it, he would not mind accepting a considerable salary reduction.

It is a sentiment that the Brazilian has already expressed on the famous talk show 'El Hormiguero'. "I'm captain of the best team in the world and I'm very calm, I feel very supported. I don't think beyond that, everything has an end, I would like to continue and retire here, but I'm not the one who decides," he said at the time.

The ball is now in the court of 'Los Blancos' board, who have to study how they want to put together the squad for next season. It is on the table to wait for the return, for example, of Odriozola from Fiorentina to give fresher alternatives to the defence, although Marcelo would accept without problems a secondary role that he is already carrying out.

Furthermore, from an economic point of view, Real Madrid could lighten their balance of spending on wages to focus their resources on other fronts such as the signing of Kylian Mbappe or the battle for Erling Haaland. These are just two possible operations and both would amount to very high sums.
