Veteran left back is ready to call it quits at the Santiago Bernabeu, after falling out of favour under coach Santiago Solari, and being replaced by youngster Sergio Reguilón in the starting XI. However in a surprising turn of events, it appears as though club president Florentino Perez is willing to grant the Brazilian his wish to leave, with Madrid seemingly opting to undertake a large overhaul of the playing squad.
Italian sports newspaper 'TuttoSport' claims that Marcelo's preferred new destination is Juventus, with the player keen to reunite with former team mate and close friend Cristiano Ronaldo. The Italian outlet also reports that Marcelo has told the Madrid hierarchy, 'If they make an offer for me, you have to let me go.'
Reports in Spain suggest that Madrid will look to bring in Real Betis left back Junior Firpo as a direct replacement, if Marcelo does indeed call an end to his 12 year stay in the Spanish capital. 22 year old Firpo is a Spanish youth international, and only made his senior debut for Betis last season. He also only just signed a contract extension until 2023 in August, and so Madrid may have to pay a significant fee to bring him to the club.
