The game was a crazy on throughout, with an own goal and a VAR penalty coming in the first half alone.
Two France goals in quick succession around the hour mark looked to have all but sealed them the win as they went 4-1 up, but a moment of madness from Lloris threatened to hand Croatia a route back into the game.
'Les Bleus' tried to retain possession to sap the remaining life out of their oppoenents, with even Lloris attepting to spray the ball about at the back.
However, having been presented with a routine backpass, Lloris made a meal of it and wound up handing Croatia a goal.
The goalkeeper attempted to take on Mario Mandzukic on his own six-yard line, only for the striker to read his intentions like a book and stick out his long right leg.
It proved to be the perfect challenge from the Croatian as the ball rebounded off him and into the back of the France net to reduce the arrears and give Croatia a ray of hope.
