Manchester United fans have unleashed a barrage of criticism upon midfielder Paul Pogba, after the Frenchman urged them to stick by the team in the aftermath of a poor display at home to Valencia in the Champions League.
The central midfielder was the standout performer for United for all the wrong reasons, as he was among a host of players who could only muster a performance that can be described at best as "limp", in the European tie at Old Trafford.
Ever- present on social media, Pogba tried to rally the fans with a post on twitter, but immediately received a sharp backlash, with many fans criticising the player of hypocrisy, after asking them to keep fighting, but not showing much fight himself on the pitch during the match versus Valencia.

One user responded: "Let's see you do your talking on the pitch Paul. You need to really pick your game up and take this team forward. You have all the ability but we aren't seeing it. We need to see much more."
Another wrote: "Keep fighting? Have you started yet."
In fairness to the Manchester United fans, this recent slump in form from not just Pogba, but the entire United squad, will have come as a surprise considering some of the players fine performances at the World Cup this past summer.
Yet it seems that, due to his magnificent displays for eventual tournament winners France in the summer; his leadership, freedom on the ball, and excellent link-up play, Paul Pogba has perhaps rightfully drawn the majority of the criticism in this rough patch.
Tueasday's setback follows a disgraceful away performance against West Ham, which ended in a 3-0 defeat for United, as manager Jose Mourinho has himself come under much condemnation from the clubs supporters, who are losing patience with his combative approach in the dressing room and lacklustre tactical displays on the pitch.
United sit 10th in the Premier League, nine points behind current champions and leaders Manchester City, and will look to bounce back at Old Trafford with a win against so far win-less Newcastle United.
