Manchester City will have a 'brother' in Italy

'The Athletic' reports that City Football Group is to become the owner of Palermo FC, who play in Italy's Serie B. The deal will be finalised in the coming days.
Palermo would join a list of clubs that currently includes Manchester City, Troyes, Girona, New York City, Melbourne City, Montevideo City, Mumbai City, Lommel SK, Sichuan Jiuniu and Yokohama Marinos.
Owned 78% by the Abu Dhabi United Group, the 'City Group' was led by Ferran Soriano with the aim of creating a global commercial entity.
It will be a historic acquisition for the club's entity. Palermo re-formed in 2019 starting in Serie D and, three years later, they are already in the second tier of Italian football.
It should also be remembered that Palermo had in their ranks players of the calibre of Barzagli, Kjaer, Ilicic, Pastore, Dybala, Cavani and Belotti.
