Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will miss Saturday's Premier League match against Liverpool due to a calf injury, manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed.
The central defender did not train on Thursday after picking up a problem while on international duty. Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Guardiola said: 'He played with Belgium, they won 9-0 and he had a problem with a calf. I don't think he'll be able to play tomorrow'.
The City boss was disappointed after losing his captain again: 'I am sad. The last seven eight, nine games last season he played no problem. Pre-season, we took care of him and he played all three games. Now, unfortunately, we've lost him, but we will try and get him fit as soon as possible'.
The captain is set to miss out tomorrow. #cityvlfc #mancity https://t.co/ZmcmquurCh
