The club's fans were left outraged after they fell to a 4-0 defeat to Barnsley on Tuesday night, and directed their unhappiness at the players on the pitch.
After the game, Rochdale's manager Keith Hill did his best to try and protect his players, asking the fans to instead direct criticism at him instead.
"Try to support the players, try to support the football club," he told the 'BBC'.
"If you are going to beat us with a stick, just phone the chairman and say you don't want Keith Hill to be the manager. That will be OK, I've got no problem with that whatsoever. I'm sure they would sack me."
