Man Utd stars must prove to Ratcliffe wrong after 'not good enough' claims: Amorim

Ruben Amorim has urged his Manchester United stars to prove Sir Jim Ratcliffe wrong after the club co-owner named Casemiro, Rasmus Hojlund, Andre Onana, Antony and Jadon Sancho as players who are “overpaid” and “not good enough”.
"We're still buying Antony, we're buying Casemiro, we're buying Onana, we're buying Hojlund, we're buying Sancho. These are all things from the past. We've inherited those things and have to sort that out. Some are not good enough and some probably are overpaid," Ratcliffe had told BBC.
Asked to comment on the words said by Ratcliffe, who shares ownership of Man United with the US-based Glazer family, head coach Ruben Amorim said: "I think if we are being honest, in this moment, everybody, me and all the players, are underperforming. So we can always change that."
The Portugal international singled out Casemiro as one player who can "play so much better". He added: "You are talking about players like Casemiro, for example, that won everything and we know that these kind of players can play so much better. So that is the focus. He (Ratcliffe) was honest in that."
Amorim said he received no complaints from any of his players following Ratcliffe's comments and insisted that the team are motivated to prove doubters wrong. "The focus is to change his mind and to change all the people’s minds," he affirmed.
"If you are a top player and play in this football club, and even me, a lot of people say I am not good enough for the club, and my feeling is you can change that with results. In training, I feel they want that really bad, especially tomorrow," he continued.
The 40-year-old reiterated that his relationship with Ratcliffe remains positive, highlighting that honesty is something that they both value. "I think we are really blunt and honest with each other. We are quite similar in that. I always felt the support of the board and especially from Sir Jim," he concluded.
