Man Utd look to become fourth team to claim Europa League glory undefeated

Immersed in mediocrity and the lower part of the Premier League almost since the beginning of the season, Europe has been the relief for a Manchester United that has found its best version and its best results when it has had to give its all in Europe.
Their good work has placed them just one match away from the title (and consequent access to the next Champions League), with Tottenham being the last obstacle for the Red Devils who, so far, can boast of being the last undefeated team in Europe.
Among the 36 teams that started the Champions League finals, the 36 that did the same in this Europa League and the 36 that played in the league phase of the Conference, United is the only one that, with the goal just a step away, is still undefeated, whether with Erik ten Hag or with Ruben Amorim in the dugout.
So far, United, who have saved the odd game in extremis (such as the agonising 5-4 win over Olympique Lyon), have played ten games in European competition this season, with a fantastic record of eight wins and just two draws, while keeping their record of defeats unblemished.
Should the Old Trafford outfit extend their fine European form by one more game and win the title, they would also go down in history as the fourth unbeaten Europa League champions after Chelsea, Villarreal and Eintracht Frankfurt.
The first to achieve it was the London side back in the 2018-19 season. With Maurizio Sarri on the bench, the Blues gave their rivals almost no chance (they won the final 4-1 against Arsenal) and won the title after twelve wins and three draws in fifteen matches.
This feat was matched shortly afterwards by Villarreal during the 2020-21 campaign. The Spanish sidh ad an outstanding run to the first major title in their history, with eleven wins and three draws, one of which came in the final against Manchester United (1-1).
Finally, the most recent team to be crowned undefeated champions of the second continental competition was Eintracht Frankfurt in the 2021-22 season. The Germans, despite facing the likes of FC Barcelona, did not falter on their journey to glory and finished as winners after seven wins and six draws in their thirteen appearances.
