Jose Mourinho was left immensely disappointed at the end of the trasnfer window after the club failed to add the two extra players he had requested, among which seemed to be Leicester City and England centre-back Harry Maguire.
The club's executive vice-chair Ed Woodward is believed to have put his foot down with the outspoken Portuguese manager over the issue, with Mourinho complaining that he feels more like a Head Coach than a traditional manager.
That complaint could become a reality according to the 'Daily Mail', who reports that bosses at Old Trafford including Woodward are exploring the possibility of re-structuring the management structure, to introduce a director of football for the first time.
Should this come about, it would relieve Mourinho of most of the responsabilities of recruitment, something that it seems he would not take lightly.
The 'Independent' claim that former Man Utd goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar is a possibility to come in in the role, after an impressive stint as CEO of Ajax, but it seems as though Roma's Monchi or Juventus's Fabio Paratici are preferred over the Dutchman.
