'Man Utd isn't Sporting ': Ex-Man City star tells Amorim

Ruben Amorim's tenure at Manchester United continues to be turbulent, with the club's recent 1-0 defeat to Tottenham leaving them in 15th place in the Premier League. 

After Sunday's defeat, Amorim reiterated that his role at the club is "so hard", following his ninth loss since taking charge in November. However, former Manchester City player Micah Richards believes that the manager's comments in press conferences are adding unnecessary pressure.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, he said: "When he said this is the worst team in United history—whatever quotes he wants to use—what he doesn’t understand is that's a headline every single week."

Richards also pointed out that while Amorim had more freedom to speak openly during his successful time at Sporting Lisbon, the same approach is proving detrimental at United.

"You can say what you want when you’re winning, and no disrespect to Sporting Lisbon—they’re not at the same level of club as Man United. He needs to stop giving people bigger stories than necessary and focus on the football."
