Man. City v Liverpool - as it happened
Thanks for joining me tonight. See you on Saturday for the Chelsea match.
FT: Manchester City 4-0 Liverpool. A dominant performance by City over the Premier League champions. They will almost certainly qualify for the Champions League.
Mahrez gets into the box and beats Alisson at his front post. The goal was chopped off due to a handball in the build-up.
4 minutes added time.
I wonder if Liverpool will give some of the youngsters a runout in their remaining matches or if they will play full strength sides.
Liverpool sub: Mané off for Minamino.
De Bruyne lobs Alisson with his head who came out to collect the ball but it goes far wide.
City could easily be six in front. They have been on fire tonight.
Mahrez has a shot from outside the box that goes wide.
City sub: Sterling off for Bernardo.
City sub: Laporte off for Otamendi.
Salah has a shot from inside the box but Ederson gets down and saves.
Liverpool sub: Alexander-Arnold off for Williams.
Man City sub: Walker off for Cancelo.
Excluding the League Cup match against Aston Villa, this would be Liverpool's biggest defeat since a 5-0 away loss to... Man City in 2017.
AND IT'S 4-0!!! A lovely pass from De Bruyne to Sterling, he takes it past Robertson in the box, shoots and Chamberlain gets the last touch before it goes in as he slid to try and clear.
It's crazy to think that Liverpool romped the league and Manchester City are beating them 3-0... and it could be a lot more.
Liverpool sub: Origi on for Firmino.
Liverpool sub: Wijnaldum off for Keita.
De Bruyne has a shot from the edge of the box that goes wide.
City have scored 11 goals in their last three home games. Incredible.
City sub: Jesus off for Mahrez.
Alexander-Arnold hits the free-kick wide.
Walker is booked for brining down Mané in the box. VAR has just said it wasn't, it's a free-kick.
Free-kick to the Reds. The referee originally gave a penalty.
Foden has a shot from the edge of the box straight at Alisson.
What is Mané doing? The ball is played to him in the box and he jumps over the ball. All he had to do was put it in the net.
And another one. De Bruyne crosses and Foden's effort is cleared by Van Dijk.
Another chance from City. Sterling runs with the ball from the halfway line and his deflected shot goes just wide.
Jesus has a weak shot from inside the box that Alisson dives and gathers easily.
Liverpool sub: Oxlade-Chamberlain on for Gomez.
And we're back.
HT: Manchester City 3-0 Liverpool. An amazing performance from City so far with De Bruyne running the show.
3 minutes added time.
Incredible play from City. Foden plays a one-two with De Bruyne, the Belgian backheels it and Foden lifts it over Alisson.
It's also De Bruyne's first-ever goal against Liverpool.
That goal is Sterling's first goal against Liverpool in the Premier League.
Jesus is booked for what looks like dissent.
Some really good stuff from City.
And City are two in front. Foden finds Sterling in the box and he knocks it past Alisson and it goes off the post and in.
A real footballing show here. Both teams are playing some great stuff and that's why they are the top two.
De Bruyne plays a great pass to Jesus, he does some lovely skill in the box but he scuffs his shot and it goes wide.
City are winning here but it doesn't make much of a difference. It will help City move closer to securing the Champions League spot.
De Bruyne steps up and sends Alisson the wrong way.
Penalty City!!! Gomez is booked for pulling down Sterling in the box.
City are starting to get into the match now.
So close from Liverpool. Salah has a shot from the edge of the box which hits the post. The best chance of the match so far.
Salah's chance has definitely been the closest to a goal we have seen.
The cross comes in but Mané can't position himself and the ball goes straight to Ederson.
There are fireworks outside the stadium. It's like a Liverpool fan has set them off to celebrate.
The fight for the Champions League is very interesting. Leicester, Chelsea, Man United, and Wolves are fighting for two spots. Could be three if City aren't allowed in the Champions League.
Van Dijk plays it over the top to Salah, he chests it down and forces the save from Ederson. The ball then hits Mendy and Firmino has the chance to knock it in, but his effort is too weak and Ederson saves easily.
Liverpool have started the better side so far.
Players take the knee and we're off.
GUARD OF HONOUR FOR LIVERPOOL.
Despite already having tied up the league, Liverpool have named a strong team for this match. They obviously want to continue to break records.
This is Liverpool's first match since winning the Premier League. Chelsea did them a favour by beating City last week
Liverpool won the last match between these two 3-1 in November. City last failed to score at home to Liverpool in 2012, they last failed to score at home to them in the league 2010.
Liverpool are of course champions. City are 11 points above Man Utd in 5th with seven matches left.
Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Wijnaldum, Henderson, Fabinho; Salah, Firmino, Mané.
Man City XI: Ederson; Walker, Garcia, Laporte, Mendy; Rodrigo, Gundogan, De Bruyne; Foden, Jesus, Sterling.
Hello and welcome to the Etihad for this match between the Premier League champions and Manchester City. City will want to win as they still haven't qualified for the Champions League. Team news to come.
