According to Fabrizio Romano, RB Leipzig centre-back Josko Gvardiol has reached an agreement with Manchester City while negotiations between the two clubs continue. The German club is still demanding €100 million to let their key player leave.
The Italian journalist adds that the Champions League winners have already tabled a new offer of €90 million plus bonuses and a percentage on resale, in order to convince Leipzig to let the Croatian international leave.
Josko Gvardiol is therefore set to become the most expensive defender in the history of football, surpassing Harry Maguire, who was bought by Manchester United from Leicester in 2020 for €87 million.
The 21-year-old is Pep Guardiola's priority for the summer. In addition, the Sky Blues are in the race to sign Declan Rice, another young player who could be a great addition to the Cityzens' midfield.
