Man City have reportedly made the Atletico midfielder their number one target for the summer transfer window, after Pep Guardiola ruled out a mid-season approach for the Spaniard. Reports suggest that the Premier League champions are ready to revive their interest in the midfielder as a replacement for Fernandinho, who turns 34 in May.
They will have to cope with his £130million price tag if they want to tie him down to their squad and even if they decide to negotiate, it is unlikely that Athletico will enter into discussions as the 24 year-old will only be two years into a nine-year contract at the Spanish club by the end of this season.
