Man City put €70m price tag on Julian Alvarez

Atletico Madrid have already got down to work with their pre-season and, without a doubt, one of the questions on the table is that of possible reinforcements. So far, the ‘Colchoneros’ side have not made any moves in terms of arrivals, with only the return of loan signings. However, as usual in the ‘Colchoneros’ offices every summer, there are already several names that have been mentioned.

Undoubtedly, one of the most exciting for the Atletico fans is that of Julian Alvarez. The Argentinian striker would be willing to put himself under the orders of his compatriot Cholo Simeone and, in addition, he knows first-hand that his importance would be crucial within the team, enjoying many more minutes than he usually has at Manchester City. However, the deal will be far from simple.

The English side consider the striker to be important, although they would be willing to transfer him. But not at any price. According to ‘The Athletic’, the Cityzens board has set a starting price for their striker of around 70 million euros, plus another 20 million euros depending on variables that are easy to fulfil.

That means that the deal could reach 90 million euros, a figure that the Madrid side are not even considering. Atletico have other priorities, such as, for example, strengthening the defence, one of the lines where the club has been having more problems in the last few seasons.

In addition, competition for Julian Alvarez is increasing. There are already several media outlets that place an economic giant such as PSG behind the striker. Undoubtedly, it will be one of the transfer saga of the summer and an almost impossible dream for the coffers of Atletico Madrid.
