Man City join battle for Rabiot's signature

The young Frenchman's contract runs out this summer, and so any transfer would be an attractive financial prospect, given the only cost involved would be £150k per week in wages and an £8m signing-on bonus. Rabiot played for the 'Blues' as a youngster but returned to France due to homesickness.
It was largely rumoured that Barcelona were keen to bring the midfielder to the Nou Camp over the summer, but PSG managed to deflect their interest in the player, who is set to enter into the final 12 months of his contract with the club.
Many other clubs have been linked to a move for the player, including Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Chelsea and Juventus. But Manchester City hope that Rabiot's time with them as a youth player, as well as the lure of working for manager Pep Guardiola, will be enough to convince him to join them when his time in Paris comes to an end.
Rabiot had a disappointing summer, as he was not named in Didier Deschamps France squad, and refused to be put on the standby list. His nation then went on to win the World Cup without him.
The 23-year-old defensive midfielder has made over 200 appearances for PSG in all competitions, being crucial to his side dominating Ligue 1, and winning four titles during his time there. He has also won various domestic cups with the 'Parisians'.
