James Maddison and Kyle Walker will be out for this Monday's clash against Iran.
Maddison has not been able to train yet with England since getting to Qatar due to a knee problem, while Walker has been out for a few months due to injury and is not match-fit. Gareth Southgate confirmed the pair's absence in a press conference this Sunday.
"Walker is not match fit for the game, but it making good progress. We're ahead of where we thought we'd be at this stage", Southgate said, who also said that Maddison has not been able to train since getting to Doha, and that he too is out of the Iran clash.
The other 24 called-up players are ready for the first game of the World Cup, including Kalvin Phillips, who has already got over his shoulder injury which has had him out for the whole season for Manchester City.
