The Belgian international is his country's all-time top goal scorer having notched up 33 goals in 66 outings, yet Lukaku feels that he is not awarded the proper applause that he deserves.
The World Cup is fast approaching, and the Red Devils are struggling to find cohesion in their squad, an issue which will not be helped by both Lukaku brothers, Jordan and Romelu, speaking out to condemn their own fans.
During a press conference on Wednesday, the younger Lukaku claimed that he didn't believe his brother's talents were fully recognised by the supporters.
After his brother's comment, Romelu said: ''Maybe he is right. I once said to Jordan: 'Look, since our six years [here] we are already standing with our backs against the wall. We can only prove ourselves and enjoy ourselves as much as possible.''
When he was reminded of the standing ovation he received against Saudi Arabia in March, Romelu said: ''A first applause after nine years. Has everything been forgotten and forgiven between me and the public?''
''As far as I am concerned not yet. One applause in nine years, then it is not forgotten and forgiven.''
