Ademola Lookman had been on the radar of both England and Nigeria for senior international duty, having not yet confirmed his allegiance for either side with a senior appearance.
However, the young winger; who was a star performer for the England U17 World Cup winning side last summer, has now decided where his international future lies.
Lookman has opted to commit his future to England, in spite of heavy interest from Nigeria amid their preparations for AFCON 2019, the player is keen to represent the 'Three Lions' when the time comes.
At present the Everton youngster is on youth international duty with England U21s, as manager Aidy Boothroyd looks to hone his own preparations for the EURO 2019 campaign in Italy next summer.
Boothroyd confirmed Lookman's commitment to the England cause in a press conference this week ahead of his side's friendly with Denmark on Tuesday.
The manager stated: "Every time I see him I have a little joke with him about it, I say: 'Why would you want to leave us?' But he's very focused on England – that's what he tells me. He says he wants to play international football for England."
Lookman endured a tough start to life under new 'Toffees' boss Marco Silva, but after battling back, he is now a regular feature in the Everton team.
His national coach also commented on Lookman's topsy turvy club career so far, saying: "He's had a tough time of it, but he's been better recently. He got himself into a state over summer when he didn't know where he would be playing or if he would be moving or not. Now he has just got his head around the fact that wherever it is he is playing, he has to play well."
