Lots of people found Karim Benzema's exit from the France national side just before the start of the World Cup strange. But it seems that there is a lot more under the surface than what has been so far revealed.
That is what 'RMC' journalist Daniel Riolo claims, who has revealed more details of what happened in the last World Cup, when France got to the final but lost to Lionel Messi's Argentina on a penalty shootout.
Riolo commented on Karim Benzema's situaiton in the side managed by Dechamps: "They asked him to try harder in training when he didn't want to and he got injured again. For me, it was a relapse. But Karim could have been on the bench from the last-16 stage and in the quarter-finals he was fully recovered".
"I want to say something I'd like to say and it's that Karim Benzema deserved more respect. We took him for an idiot and we got rid of him. Some players like Lloris, Griezmann and Giroud were happy that he went", the journalist added.
But it does not end there - Riolo blamed Deschamps directly for the current Balon d'Or winner's exit: "Deschamps didn't want Benzema or for him to return to the side. He doesn't know how to manage big personalities and the different egos that can be in a dressing room. He builds a team really well, which is not the same. Benzema represented a problem for him".
