The wounds of Liverpool's game against Nottingham Forest remain painful for the club and for English football in general, nearly three decades on. The tragedy took 96 lives, and Liverpool remembers it every year on the anniversary, the 15th of April.
Liverpool and Forest faced each other in the semi-final of the FA Cup and, due to policing mistakes, a human crush ensued, injuring 766, and killing 96.
These mistakes were then covered up by the police force, while English newspaper 'The Sun' published false and defamatory stories about the accident, wrongly blaming Liverpool fans for the deaths.
Justice was only recently served to those responsible, however the inquest to uncover all the details continues to this day, with families of the victims still searching for concrete answers about what happened to their sons and brothers.
Meanwhile, Liverpool continue to remember their fallen fans, and completed a minute's silence when they faced Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday.
