Liverpool lucky to get a point in 1-1 draw with Man U!

There were some surprising changes to the starting line-ups going into this game, as Alisson Becker returned in goal for Liverpool for the first time since injuring his calf against Norwich City on August 9th. Joel Matip was also back after a knock, but the Reds were without Mohamed Salah, who was replaced by Divock Origi. De Gea started for Man U, despite Solskjaer not knowing if he would be ready for today's game! Aaron Wan-Bissaka also returned from injury.
At the start of this game, United came out fighting and the better of the two sides, looking more threatening and limiting Liverpool a lot. Liverpool started weak and really struggled to get into the game, as they didn't really have a significant chance in the first 20 minutes of the game.
It was also confirmed in the game that Tuanzebe, who had to drop out of the starting eleven at the last minute due to an injury in the warm-up, suffered a hip injury. Another injury worry for struggling United, who were one point above the relegation zone before this game.
Liverpool have won once at Old Trafford in their last 13 games in the competition, when they beat Man U 3-0 in 2014. Liverpool certainly needed to improve if Klopp wanted to get anything out of the game!
The first goal came in the 38th minute! Manchester United took the lead as Liverpool were fuming as Lindelof made a foul on Origi who stayed down in the Liverpool box, Man U countered and Rashford overturned Matip in the box and slotted the ball into the net. Sensational run from Rashford and a sensational finish. VAR checked the foul and decided to, controversially, still give the goal!
Then, a few minutes later (43), Liverpool equalised, as the ball was crossed to Mane, who scored, but as it was crossed it hit his hand, VAR reviewed the goal and decided not to give it due to handball!
Half time came and United surprised everyone!! Liverpool players were strangely nervous and needed to regroup and get back into this game in the second half!
The second half continued in much the same way, with Liverpool far from their best, but coming into the game a bit more. The equaliser came late on, in the 84th minute!
The ball was crossed in for Lallana (who replaced Henderson) from Robertson, who ran in between the defenders and received the ball in from the far post, United switched off and Lallana tapped home. Things got interesting from this point on as both teams looked to try and get the win! It had also been almost 18 months since his last goal, but the sub made a difference.
Full Time ended Liverpool's winning run at 17 as they could not beat Manchester United at Old Trafford. Man U will be disappointed to not have won that game, as they were the better team for most of the game. Liverpool will be delighted with the point, as they were far from their best in toda's derby game. Final score, Manchester United 1-1 Liverpool!
