This game appeared from the start that it ould be a simple one for Liverpool. They have lost just the one match this season and it didn't appear that already relegated Huddersfield would be adding to their bleak total of 3 wins at Anfield on this Friday evening.
The fact it took just 15 seconds before Naby Keita had breached Jonas Lossl's net after some woeful defending by Christopher Schindler, did not chage this sense that this would be a walk in the park for Liverpool.
In fairness to Huddersfield they did improve after this, although Salah almost made it 2-0 after just 2 minutes, with a bizarre 10 minutes in which they had control of the match at Anfield. It wasn't until Liverpool's second that this tie really ended, with Sadio Mané once again scoring a headed goal from an Andy Robertson assist.
After the second, the match resembled a training session for both sides with neither side seemingly putting in 100%. Huddersfield seemed to know they were beaten, and Liverpool seemed to know they had won the game, allowing them to put one eye on the Champions League Semi-Final against Barcelona on Wednesday night.
Salah added a third on the brink of half-time, before Mané scored the fourth with yet another header, with Salah adding the 5th Liverpool goal with a simple finish from another Robertson assist.
Both Mané and Salah could've gone on to score hat-tricks, with Mané missing an open goal when he hit the bar with a header, with Lossl stranded in no man's land on what was a torrid evening for the goalkeeper.
There was yet more good news for Liverpool too, with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back from his nasty knee injury he sustained in last year's Champions League Semi-Finals against Roma. Xherdan Shaqiri and Joe Gomez also returned for some much needed minutes on the pitch, with the three returners coming on from the bench.
Liverpool are now on 91 points, a total that in virtually any other season would guarantee you the Premier League title, this season however is not any old season and Liverpool have incredible competition with Manchester City and it seems ridiculous to say that should City defeat Burnley on Sunday, Liverpool will be second in the table with 91 points. They have 2 more games this season, where they will face Newcastle and Wolves, with the Champions League showdown with Barcelona potentially preceding a second final in as many years with the winner of the Tottenham v Ajax tie.
