Tottenham Hotspur V Man. Utd - As it happened.

FT: TOTTENHAM 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED- In the auditions for the next permanent United manager, the interim beats the favourite, as Solskjaer's side hold out for a narrow victory. Tottenham will be disappointed that they did not get at least one goal, especially as they dominated the second half. However a mature defensive display from United was enough to see them take the spoils at Wembley.

CHANCE SPURS- Llorente chests down a long ball brilliantly and aims a lobbed pass to Kane at the back post. Yet the Englishman misses the ball by a whisker, and the result seems beyond the hosts now.

CORNER SPURS- Perhaps their last chance at an equaliser here!

CHANGE UNITED- McTominay replaces Pogba for the final moments of the match.

CHANCE UNITED- A great reverse pass from Herrera sees Lukaku try his luck from the edge of the box, but his shot is deflected out for a throw.

CHANCE SPURS- A Trippier cross falls to the feet of Llorente, but he can only prod the ball at goal and De Gea gathers easily.

CHANCE SPURS- Kane drives the ball low towards the near post, but once more, De Gea reacts quickly to block the ball with his foot. It seems like there will be no beating the United stopper this evening.

FREE KICK UNITED- A good spell of Tottenham pressure is broken by a foul from Alderweireld on Rashford.

CHANGE UNITED- Lingard is replaced by Pereira for the closing stages.

CHANGE SPURS- Llorente replaces Winks, as Pochettino adds more firepower to his misfiring side.

YELLOW CARD UNITED- Pogba lunges in very high on Alli and catches the Englishman on the top of the knee with his studs. Pogba is shown a yellow card by Mike Dean, but it could easily have been a red. It was a horrible challenge!

CHANGE UNITED- Lukaku comes on up front for the visitors, replacing Anthony Martial.

CHANCE SPURS- Kane takes the kick, looping the ball over the wall and towards the top corner. But De Gea reads the shot and leaps to catch the ball comfortably.

FREE KICK SPURS- Kane is hauled to the floor as he drives at the United back line. Tottenham have another clear chance at the United goal here...

CHANCE SPURS- Son takes aim from the corner of the box, but his shot is deflected out for a corner. Tottenham are really upping the pressure in this match!

CHANCE SPURS- Eriksen takes aim from the set piece but blazes over. He should have at least hit the target from there!

FREE KICK SPURS- Tottenham have a free kick on the edge of the box; Son is fouled as United tried to clear.

CHANCE SPURS- An end to end move sees Alli close in on goal, but he can only shoot straight at De Gea! What a chance there! Should have been 1-1!

CHANCE UNITED- Martial cuts back inside and lays the ball off to Pogba in the 'D' on the edge of the area, but the Frenchman's clever low effort is met with an equally brilliant save from Lloris. United so close to a second goal there!

CHANCE SPURS- Trippier fires in a great cross to the front post, but Lamela is unsighted by a United defender and thus the ball hits him unexpectedly, deflecting wide of the net! What great chance to get back in the score line.

CHANCE SPURS- Kane reaches the corner ball ahead of Lindelof, but can only head the ball into the ground in front of goal and De Gea gathers the attempt on the line.

CORNER SPURS- Can they test De Gea once more here?

CHANCE UNITED- Pogba again. His long range shot is blocked, but he follows it up, reaching the ball before any Tottenham defender, and attempts to lob Lloris. However the keeper gets a fingertip on the ball, which is enough to divert it onto the roof of the net! Great tenacity from Pogba there nearly saw United double their lead!

CHANCE UNITED- the second phase of the corner sees Young reach the by line and produce a dangerous cross, but the header from Pogba is aimed straight at Lloris, and his compatriot gathers with ease.

CORNER UNITED- the visitors have the chance to load the box.

A frantic beginning to this second half has seen both sides fashion chances, albeit if the hosts have enjoyed the more clear cut ones. But for keeper David de Gea, United could have been pegged back here, as it is, they still hold a narrow lead at Wembley.

CHANCE SPURS- De Gea is on hand once more, this time to deny Alli's powerful downward header! The United stopper is in inspired form this evening!

CHANCE SPURS- Tottenham advance up the field and a one-two betwen Kane and Alli sees him drive the ball at goal from mere yards out. But the Englishman is denied by a superb save from David de Gea.

FREE KICK SPURS- Lingard trips Eriksen as the hosts try to break, and thus the referee awards them a set piece just inside their own half.

And we are back underway at Wembley, with United holding a narrow lead. Which side will demonstrate a superior cutting edge to take home the spoils in the second half? We will have to wait and see...

HT: TOTTENHAM 0-1 MANCHESTER UNITED- Solskjaer's side lead at the break after an excellent attacking move and finish courtesy of Marcus Rashford. In truth, either side could have been in the lead, after a great exhibition of attacking football, but United's clinical finishing sees them ahead at the interval.

GOOOOAAALLL UNITED! 0-1! A brilliant looped pass across the park from Pogba sees Rashford in on goal, and the Englishman makes no mistake. He shoots low across Lloris and the ball nestles into the far side of the net. Solskjaer's side have the lead just before the break!

CHANGE SPURS- Sissoko is forced off with that injury and is replaced by Erik Lamela.

INJURY SPURS- Mousa Sissoko is down holding his groin and looks unable to continue. The midfielder seemed to pull up whilst chasing a forward pass, which is a real shame for the hosts, as he is so often a key player for them.

CHANCE SPURS- Winks lets fly from long range, but his effort is wayward and never looked like troubling the United rearguard.

OFFSIDE SPURS- A combination of Alli and Kane run across the front post and the ball sneaks into the bottom corner, but the flag is up and the goal has been chalked off.

OFFSIDE SPURS- A good spell of pressure from the hosts ends with Son being flagged offside. In any case, the United defence had his effort covered, and blocked it away from goal.

CHANCE UNITED- The visitors break from defending the corner and immediately have a chance of their own. Tottenham defenders manage to limit the danger to a long range effort from Martial; the Frenchman attempts to curl the ball into the far top corner, but puts too much power on it, and it flies over the bar.

CORNER SPURS- Can they test De Gea from this latest set piece?

CHANCE UNITED- martial drives into the spurs penalty area and twists Alderweireld inside out before driving a low shot at the near post. Thankfully for the hosts, Lloris is wise to the danger and blocks the effort with his legs. United are just cranking up the pressure on their hosts here...

CHANCE UNITED- Rashford's cross into the box falls to the feet of Lingard at the back post, but after getting it down, he skews and attempted volley and the ball flies harmlessly over the bar! Once again, another chance wasted there.

CHANCE SPURS- A free-flowing move up the field sees Alli play Winks into the box, but the midfielder drags his shot wide of the far post! A great chance to at least hit the target there, but the Englishman wastes it.

Nothing much in the way of goal-mouth action in the first few minutes of this match. But both sides seem ready for a battle, with both sets of midfielders seeing much of the early possession.

CHANCE SPURS- An early cross from Trippier passes through the entirety of the United six yard bos, but miscommunication sees it left unchallenged, and the danger is clear.
