GOAL! RIVER! MARTINEZ! 3-1! That is that! Andrada goes forward for the corner and whilst he is close to meeting it, River counter, with Martinez racing the length of the pitch to stroke the ball into the unguarded net to seal the victory.

2 minutes added on. Boca are still in this!
  • 120'
OFF THE POST! The ball breaks to Jara in the box and his low effort is deflected against the outside of the post! Boca inches away from leveling!

More bad news for Boca as Gago limps off. They're down to 9, but they're not giving up!
  • 116'
Alvarez has a great chance to seal the victory for River, but he shoots straight at Andrada.
  • 116'
Gago's effort from range takes a nick off a defender, but Armani is able to deal with the dipping effort.
  • 115'
Andrada is up for this if no one else! First he dribbles the ball out of his own box to launch a counter before going forward for a corner against his manager's wishes.
  • 111'
Both sides make changes, with Tevez on for Buffarini for Boca and Zuculini on for Fernandez for River.

GOAL! RIVER! QUINTERO! 2-1! I told you this boy can play! This is a goal worthy of winning any game! The Colombian receives the ball on the edge of the box and doesn't think twice. He fires in a left-footed effort with no back-lift whatsover. Andrada is a mere spectator as it clips the underside of the bar on its way in. River are 11 minutes away from winning the 2'18 Copa Libertadores.
  • 105'
HT in ET: River Plate 1-1 Boca Juniors. Still nothing to chose from between the two sides here. Boca appear to have settled for penalties after going down to 10 men, but River are keen to claim the win in the remaining 15 minutes.
  • 104'
CHANCE! Quintero's corner from the right picks out Martinez at the far post. He is all alone, but he can't control his volley and it rises harmlessly over the crossbar.
  • 103'
CHANCE! River attack and the ball is pulled back from the left for an onrushing Álvarez, but he can't control his effort and it flashes over Andrada's crossbar.
  • 101'
Juan Quintero certainly can't be accused of lacking in self-belief as he once again takes aim from distance. The result is the same, though as the ball clears the crossbar by some distance.
  • 99'
The ball breaks for Quintero on the edge of the Boca box, but his effort on the turn is always rising.
  • 97'
River respond with a change of their own as Exequiel Palacios is replaced by Julian Álvarez.
  • 96'

RED CARD! BARRIOS! Boca are down to 10! Barrios is shown his second booking of the game for jumping into a challenge with a sliding Palacios and appearing to catch him in the chest and Boca now have an absolute mountain to climb.
  • 90'
FT: River Plate 1-1 Boca Juniors (AGG: 3-3). We'll go to extra time here! Both sides have dominated a half of football as we are no closer to knowing who will be named the 2018 Copa Libertadores champions. River arguably look the more likely right now, but it is all very much still to play for.
  • 90'
Nandez has some painful-looking cramp and he may even have to be replaced.
  • 90'
There is brief panic in the Boca defence as Andrada punches a cross he ought to catch, but the loose ball is hacked to safety.
  • 90'

  • 89'

  • 81'
Fernandez is booked for a fairly innocuous-looking collision with Abila in the middle of the park.
  • 80'
Olaza is teed up and tries a powerful low effort, but a stray leg in the wall just about prevents it from reaching Armani.
  • 78'
DRAMA! Boca want a penalty as Madiana's attempt to charge down Nandez's effort sees him catch the Boca man with a high foot, but they will be made to do with an indirect free-kick for dangerous play. No, I'm not convinced by that decision either.
  • 76'
Boca look a spent force here, they need some inspiration and they need it fast. Time for Tevez?
  • 74'
Young Gonzalo Montiel's game is over as he is replaced by Camilo Mayada for River.
  • 72'
Pratto sees an effort blocked after good work down the left from Martinez.
  • 70'
The momentum has very much swung in River's favour now as Martinez's cross is headed clear.

GOAL! RIVER PLATE! PRATTO! 1-1! It has been coming in this second half! Beautiful play between Palacios and Martinez sees the latter played in down the right and he squares for Pratto to tuck home first time from 12 yards. Game very much on here!
  • 62'
Boca turn to their bench now as Ramon Abila replaces goalscorer Dario Benedetto.
  • 59'
River make the game's first change as Ponzio is replaced by Quintero. This boy can play.
  • 56'
DRAMA! Andrada comes racing off his line and clatters Pratto, who gets his toe on the ball first, but the referee is unmoved. Andrada is down in need of some treatment, he's been a lucky boy there. We do have VAR in use tonight, but it doesn't overrule the man in the middle here as Boca are awarded a free-kick.
  • 55'
Olaza is the man to try his luck, but he fails to get his effort over the wall.
  • 54'
Pinola brings down Benedetto 25 yards out dead centre of goal and they're queuing up to take this one.
  • 52'
Palacios tries an effort from 20 yards but a deflection off a defender takes all the power off it and Andrada's gathers with ease. River have looked much improved since the break.
  • 49'
CLOSE! Pratto tees up Fernandez and he thunders a left-footed effort goalwards from 25 yards, but his strike fizzes narrowly wide of Andrada's left-hand post.
  • 47'
river are the first to threaten after the restart as Maidana heads a corner from the left a couple of yards over the bar.
  • 46'
Boca get us back underway here! What does the second half have in store for us?
  • 45'
HT: River Plate 0-1 Boca Juniors. Boca lead at the break thanks to Dario Benedetto's cool finish. River started well but began to look shaky in defense as Boca grew into the game, with the 'Xeneizes' good value for their half-time lead.

  • 44'
GOAL! BOCA! BENEDETTO! 0-1! What a counter! River fail to take advantage when Armani is caught out of position and Boca counter ruthlessly. Benedetto is sent racing clear thanks to Nandez's wonderful pass and the striker keeps his cool to slot beyond Armani for the opening goal.
  • 40'
River threaten on the counter as Montiel drives forward with the ball from deep, but the final ball is lacking and the move ends with Martinez thundering an effort high and wide from 30 yards.
  • 40'
Almost a chance to Boca as Villa crosses from the right, but Armani arrives to punch the ball clear before Benedetto can get there.
  • 38'
River look short of ideas in the final third as Boca once again turn over possession.
  • 34'
You'd have to say that Boca look the more likely to claim the victory based on what we've seen so far. Pablo Perez is everywhere in the middle of the park.
  • 30'
River try to his back immediately as Pratto goes down in the box and asks the question, but the referee is unmoved.
  • 30'
CLOSE! How has that not gone in? Benedetto's effort is deflected into the path of Pablo Perez on the right-hand side of the box, he is all on his own but a River defender throws his body in front of the ball to get a vital touch on it to send the effort looping narrowly wide.

  • 27'
Danger! Boca press high and Ponzio is robbed by Nandez, with the River man succeeding only in bringing down his opposite number right on the edge of the box. Ponzio is booked and Boca have a free-kick in a very dangerous position.
  • 25'
Boca are growing in confidence here, River look shaky at the back and there's a feeling they can be got at if Boca play on the front foot a bit more.
  • 22'
As I say that there is a brief scare for River as Pavon latches onto a weak headed clearance to keep a free-kick alive, but his cross-cum-shot is cleared out for a corner, which comes to nothing.
  • 20'
A chance for River as they pull a corner from the left low into the path of Ignacio Fernandez who has scampered into space, but he can only fire over the bar first time with his left foot. That one was straight off the training ground. River are arguably enjoying their best spell of the game.
  • 15'
Buffarini brings down his man to hand River another free-kick in a similar position, but this one is cleared away with the minimum of fuss.
  • 14'
Everything feels a little bit nervy here, with neither side wanting to show their hand too early.
  • 11'
CHANCE! The corner comes in from the right and it drops for Pablo Perez completely unmarked at the far post, but his acrobatic volley is straight at Armani.
  • 10'
CLOSE! Maidana hacks at an Olaza cross from the left and sends the ball ballooning over his own goalkeeper and onto the roof of the net, so close to a Boca opener! Plenty of River hearts in mouths for a minute there.
  • 7'
Palacios is unable to bring a long ball forward under his spell and Boca are in possession once again.
  • 6'
river have arguably been the livelier of the two teams so far, with Boca yet to ask any real questions of their opponents defensively.
  • 4'
The ball is aimed to the far post, but Izquierdoz is alert to flick the ball behind for a corner, which comes to nothing.
  • 3'
Magallan dives in on his man down the River left and gets nowhere near the ball. River will have a chance to swing the ball in.
  • 1'
We're off! River get the ball rolling!

The warm-ups are underway here in the Spanish capital:

Here's how these two have fared recently ahead of this one:

The 'Xeneizes' are unbeaten in their last five competitive games (W3, D2, L1).

Boca have won just once away from home in the Copa Libertadores this season (W1, D5, L0).
  • PRVW
Just the two changes for River as Lucas Martinez and Rafael Borre drop out, with Leonardo Ponzio and Ignacio Fernandez coming in. That looks like it could see a shift of system to a back four, with Marcelo Gallardo having deployed a back five in the first leg.

RIVER PLATE: Armani; Montiel, Maidana, Pinola, Caco; Fernandez, E.Perez, Palacios, Ponzio, Martinez; Pratto. Subs: Lux, L.Martinez, quintero, Zuculini, Mayada, Mora, Alvarez.
  • PRVW
Three changes for Boca form the first leg as Augustin Rossi, Leonardo Jara and Ramon Abila drop out to be replaced by Esteban Andrada, Julio Buffarini and Dario Benedetto. Carlos Tevez is made to do with a place on the bench.

The Boca fans certainly seem to be up for this one:

Boca hold the overall bragging rights, winning 88 of 247 competitive fixtures between the pair (W88, D78, L81).
  • PRVW
There has been an average of 7.6 yellow cards per game across the last five 'Superclásicos'.
  • PRVW
River have kept just one clean sheet in their last 10 competitive games.

River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo: “To play the Copa Libertadores 10,000 kilometres away from home is shameful. In the future we will look back at this day and reflect upon it (the decision) because our supporters have been robbed of the chance to watch it. There is not anything we can do and maybe the next time this will be to another team, but this choice is ridiculous and I cannot say more than that on how I feel at the moment."
  • PRVW
Boca Juniors boss Guillermo Barros Schelotto: "We should have played in our own country but unfortunately that is not possible. Unfortunately, we never learn. It seems we make the same mistakes over and over again, and what is damaged is the image of Argentinian and South American football. Today we should be talking about how River and Boca made Argentina proud and instead, we are talking about violence. Again, we have lost to violence."
  • PRVW
The planned fixture between these two on November 24, following the initial 2-2 draw at La Bombonera, was thrown into chaos when River fans en route to El Monumental showered the Boca team bus with missiles. Images of players injured by broken glass and affected by police deployment of tear gas quickly went viral and, after kick-off was twice put back, the match was postponed. A hastily rescheduled meeting the following day was also shelved.
