FT: Manchester United 5-0 Club Brugge. United progress into the next round of the Europa League. After Deli was sent off for handball on the 22-minute mark, the home side made Brugge pay with three first-half goals from Fernandes, Ighalo and McTominay to send them in at the break with a comfortable lead. In the second half, Solskjaer’s side controlled proceedings before a brace from Fred sealed the result and booked United’s place in the last 16 of the Europa League.

A lovely pull back from Chong, with Fred burying a brilliant left footed strike into the near post from outside of the box. Solkjaer simply applauded.

CHANCE! Mata sends a glorious ball down the right-hand side of the field for Greenwood to chase and, after latching onto the pass, he sends it across goal for Lingard. The substitute opens up his body but is denied by Mignolet in the centre of the goal.

Fred scores! Shaw wins the ball brilliantly high up and suddenly Lingard is through in the left channel. Full credit to a man without a goal, instead of taking the glory he pulls it back to Fred near the penalty spot who turns it home easily.

Chance for Lacazette! A neat dummy from Ozil wrong-foots Cisse and allows the ball to run through for the Frenchman, whose 20-yard strike goes high and wide of the target.

The home side make their third and final change of this second leg with Greenwood entering the fray in place of McTominay, who scored United’s third goal.

Goalscorer Bruno Fernandes comes off, Jesse Lingard replaces him.

Brugge make a double change as Tau is replaced by Diatta and Matta comes off for Mitrovic.

Mata and Fernandes are clearly enjoying each other’s company. A lovely combination from the pair, with Mata rolling a backheel to the Portuguese then immediately making a run. Fernandes rolled through a first touch through ball, which was only just diverted out for a corner by the tip of a defender’s toes.

Fred’s lofted throughball finds Mata on the edge of the box and the Spaniard is brought down by Kossounou from behind. Fernandes steps up to take the free-kick, but sends it wildly past the far post.

The home side make one change at the break with Chong coming on to replace James.

HT: Man Utd 3-0 Brugge. After a dominant opening half, United take a three-goal lead in at half time. Following a clear-cut handball in the area, Deli was sent off after 22 minutes before Fernandes converted the resulting penalty. Ighalo then turned home Mata’s cut back seven minutes later to double the home side’s lead, before a well-struck effort from McTominay made it three in the closing stages of the first half.

Fernandes very nearly sent Ighalo through on goal again. The ball just got caught under Ighalo’s heels and the visitors breathed a sigh of relief. The whistle couldn’t come sooner for the Belgians.

Fernandes once more nicks the ball off a defender by the left-hand corner flag, feeds Fred who tees up McTominay on the edge of the area with a lovely weighted ball. The midfielder, returning from injury, has all the time he needs to pick his spot and just fires it right into the corner of Mignolet's net. The keeper barely moved.

Fernandes has been at the heart of absolutely everything so far for United, and his pass over to the right for Mata is perfectly thought through. The winger then shows great awareness to put it on a plate for Ighalo who simply cannot miss. A wonderfully worked goal.

Ighalo grabs his first United goal! Fernandes twists and turns on the edge of the area before floating a lofted throughball down the right side of the box for Mata. The Spaniard cuts it back and Ighalo is quickest to react to turn it home from close range. 2-0.

PENALTY! Following some neat play down the left flank, a ball inside is cleverly flicked on by Fernandes into the path of McTominay, who sees his goal-bound shot blocked by the arm of Deli. Fernandes will take it...

Mata is caught by James in seeking to win an aerial duel and the visitors are awarded a free-kick in their defensive third.

End to end at the moment. Just as United fans exhaled in relief after Rits’ shot missed the target, Fernandes picked up the ball in space on the right, moved into the box with a lovely first touch and then fired a solid attempt at goal. A pretty damn good save from Mignolet was the only thing keeping it out.

Another attack from United. Most of their joy so far has come from the left but Fernandes drifted to the right and produced a beautiful 1-2 with Wan-Bissaka who slipped a low cross into the box. A good cross, but nobody was there to connect with it.

OFF THE POST! Moments after Okereke appeared to be clean through at the other end, United regain possession and launch a quick counter. Fernandes drives at the heart of the defence before seeing his well-struck shot from range tipped onto the post by Mignolet.

Early opening! After taking a short corner down the left-hand side, United eventually swing the ball into the area. Mignolet misses his punch and Maguire’s close-range strike is well blocked.
