FT: Man City 6-1 Huddersfield. An utterly dominant win for the champions as they were in control throughout. Sergio Aguero's hat-trick will take the headlines but Benjamin Mendy and David Silva were among the others to put in strong performances for the hosts. Huddersfield's dismal start to the season continues.
  • 92'

GOAL! MAN CITY! KONGOLO O.G.! 6-1! Sane gets in behind and races clear, he has only Hamer to beat but his prodded effort is blocked by the goalkeeper only to bounce off the hapless Terrence Kongolo and roll into the unguarded net. That sums up Huddersfield's afternoon.
  • 82'
Phil Foden is on for the final few minutes as he replaces Ilkay Gundogan.
  • 80'
CHANCE! It should be six! Jesus wriggles his way into the box and only has Hamer to beat but he drags his effort wide of the far post!

GOAL! MAN CITY! AGUERO! 5-1! Aguero gets his hat-trick and it's a lovely finish! Mendy crosses first time fro the left and Aguero gets across his man to flick into the corner with his first touch. Both of those two have been outstanding today.
  • 75'
Communication! Mahrez cuts in from the right and unleashes a snorter, but Aguero has run across his line and the ball clatters into the back of the Argentine.
  • 71'

Schindler is the latest name in the book for clipping Jesus on halfway. The Brazilian was just too quick for him.
  • 64'
Here comes Mahrez, he replaces the outstanding David Silva.
  • 62'
Diakhaby replaces Pritchard for Huddersfield and it appears that Riyad Mahrez will soon be joining the fray for City.
  • 59'
CLOSE! Aguero plays a wonderful one-two with Jesus just inside the box but he can only lash wide after receiving his return pass.
  • 57'
OFF THE POST! Aguero is inches away from his third of the afternoon! He shakes off a couple of challenges in midfield before turning and unleashing a powerful low effort which crashes back into play off the base of the post.
  • 54'
Bernardo Silva's effort from the edge of the box is charged down, before Benjamin Mendy fires tamely into the side-netting right-footed. There are more goals in this one if City want them.

GOAL! MAN CITY! DAVID SILVA! 4-1! Wow. The perfect free-kick from the Spaniard as he marks his landmark appearance with a goal. It's up, over the wall and beyond Hamer before he can even react, right in the postage stamp. You don't save those.

  • 45'
HT: Man City 3-1 Huddersfield. Well, an action-packed first half here. City deservedly lead thanks to a brace from Sergio Aguero and a strike from Gabriel Jesus and whilst Huddersfield have been poor throughout, Jon Stankovic's goal just before the break has given them a glimmer of hope.

GOAL! MAN CITY! AGUERO! 3-0! Look away now, Ben Hamer. The Huddersfield goalkeeper spills a routine low cross from Mendy and Aguero is first on the scene to stroke the loose ball into the back of the net. This is going to get messy.

GOAL! MAN CITY! JESUS! 2-0! Wonderful stuff from Mendy! He drives forward from left-back before exchanging a couple of passes with Jesus. there is a hint of luck regarding how the ball drops for the Brazil but he takes full advantage to get it under control and drill low beyond Hamer at the near post from just inside the box.
  • 30'
Aguero is in the mood today. He's sharper than anyone else to keep the ball alive after Hamer's unconvincing punch, but can only find the side-netting with his low effort. City could run away with this if Huddersfield aren't careful.
  • 27'
Jesus cuts in from the left and tries his luck but it is straight at Hamer.

GOAL! MAN CITY! AGUERO! 1-0! I warned you about Ederson's passing... The Brazilian picks out Aguero from a goal kick some 80 yards down the pitch. The Argentine gathers the ball on the edge of the box and Hamer comes racing out to meet him. However, Aguero cuts back, before dinking the ball over the stranded goalkeeper and into the back of the unguarded net.
  • 24'
An effort from Huddersfield! Mounie pulls the ball back to Stankovic on the edge of the box but he curls over first time.

A huge tackle this from Kongolo as he stops Bernardo in his tracks with a firm, but fair challenge after the Portuguese had skipped past two men.
  • 21'
Mendy has a chance to cross from out on the left but it is poor and Hamer easily gathers.
  • 18'

  • 16'
Jesus heads a stones cross straight at Hamer. City are toying with Huddersfield here.
  • 14'
Silva finds Mendy and he looks to side-foot the ball back across goal but is only able to fire into the side-netting.
  • 13'
City have had 77% of the possession so far and are somehow not leading despite flying out of the blocks.
  • 10'
David Silva is distinctly unimpressed as John Stones fails to make himself available for a pass. The former Barnsley man appears to be playing on the right-hand side of defence, perhaps to balance out Benjamin Mendy's attacking tendencies on the other side.
  • 8'
Ederson is renowned for being a good passer, but he almost outdoes himself with a stunning 70-yards ball downfield for Aguero, but it has a smidgen too much on it and Hamer is able to get there first.
  • 5'
Another chance! David Silva is looking untouchable early on here! He jinks one way and then the other down the right before crossing to the far post. Aguero is in attendance, but he can't readjust in time and can only knee the ball into the arms of Hamer.
  • 3'
GREAT SAVE! It's all happening early on here! Huddersfield one again fail to clear a corner on the edge of the box and David Silva finds Gabriel Jesus in acres of space, but his low effort is brilliantly saved by Hamer.
  • 2'
OFF THE BAR! City swing in a corner from the left and when Huddersfield fail to clear it drops to Mounie, whose sliced clearance loops into the air and onto the top off the crossbar. A lucky escape for the visitors!
  • 2'
GREAT BLOCK! Almost and early chance for City as David Silva waltzes hi way into the box before finding Aguero, but his fierce effort is blocked away.
  • 1'

David Wagner on Aaron Mooy's absence: "It wasn't planned, his wife is expecting a baby and we got a phone call late on Saturday to say she is in labour and she will be going to hospital with her, and sometimes things in life are more important than football - even a match against Man City, but hopefully everything goes to plan for him today."

Here how these two sides have fared recently ahead of this one:
  • PRVW
David Silva makes his 250th Premier League appearance for Manchester City today, becoming only the third play to do so after Richard Dunne and Joe Hart.
  • PRVW
Sergio Aguero has scored 11 goals in his last seven home league games.
  • PRVW
Huddersfield have won just one of their last 11 league games, drawing a blank eight times and failing to score more than twice in any of those games.
  • PRVW
Hudderfield limited City to just seven shots on target against them last season, fewer than any other side.
  • PRVW
City have never lost their opening game at home in 21 Premier League seasons.
  • PRVW
Man City have failed to score in four successive home league games against the 'Terriers', with their last strikes at home against Huddersfield coming in a 10-1 win back in November 1987.
  • PRVW
Huddersfield appear to have fielded a very cautious side, with David Wagner's men likely to line up with five at the back. Mathias Jorgensen misses out through injury, whilst former Manchester City man Aaron Mooy is unavailable as his wife has gone into labour.
  • PRVW
Well, what on earth to make from that from Manchester City. There is recognised right-back in the side as Fernandinho appears set to line up as a wing-back. Ilkay Gundogan comes in in midfield following De Bruyne's injury, whilst David Silva returns to provide the creative nous alongside namesake Bernardo. Both Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero start up front.

Huddersfield have arrived ahead of this one:
  • PRVW
Huddersfield's season hasn't gone as well so far, having fallen to a 3-0 defeat to Maurizio Sarri's Chelsea in their first game. Many are tipping the 'Terriers' to be involved in a battle against relegation this season and another crushing defeat today could prove difficult to recover from so early on in the season.
  • PRVW
City's season has gone perfectly on the pitch so far, with them recording back-to-back 2-0 victories over Chelsea and Arsenal to secure the Community Shield crown and get their Premier League title defence off to a winning start. However, the news this week that Kevin De Bruyne is facing three months on the sidelines has come as a huge body blow to Pep Guardiola's side, with it still to be seen who will step up in the middle of the park in the Belgian's absence.
