Barcelona vs Valencia. As it happened

It's over

Barcelona managed to stay close to Real Madrid in the fight for the league title. They began the game on the back foot, but the tie was made easier after Mangala's dismissal, which defined the fixture. Suarez, Messi (2) and Andre Gomes got the goals for the home side, while Mangala and Munir scored for the visitors.

Barca kill the game

Neymar picked up the ball and ran down the left wing, into the box and pulled back for former Valencia man Andre Gomes to become the unlikely goalscorer, and end the game.

Neymar misses again!

27 shots on goal for Barcelona and still only one goal ahead. Messi forces a booking and he will miss the next match.

Suarez hits the wall

Suarez goes down at the edge of the box!

Dangerous free kick for Barcelona.

Barcelona really pushing for a fourth goal

We are seeing lots of rare misses from Barca who have not finished putting the game to bed.

Neymar against the woodwork!

A great free kick from the Brazilian hit the upright.

There was a great reception for Sergi Roberto, the PSG comeback hero.

Double substitution

Munir off, Simone Zaza jumps on. Andre Gomes comes on for Rafinha.

Diego Alves, again

Yet again, the Brazilian goalkeeper pulls out a great save to deny Messi and Suarez, who did not expect the ball to come to him, hits the follow-up wide.

20 minutes to go

Even though Barcelona have been far superior to Valencia, the difference is still only one goal.

Iniesta booked

He clipped Enzo Perez as he was getting away.

Rakitic comes off and gives way to Sergi Roberto

Barcelona want another

Barcelona are looking for another goal, but they seem to have forgotten about defending. Valencia allowed to brake and very nearly level. Barcelona's defence has been all over the place.

It has been coming. Messi finished well with his right foot inside the box. There is still a long time to go and there is just no way you can see Valencia coming back.

What a save!

Barcelona counter through Messi whose ball left Neymar against Diego Alves. Brilliant save with his foot.

Barcelona take charge

Valencia sit back now and invite Barcelona to come at them. It is going to be a long half for the 10-men visitors.

Valencia kick off

Abdennour has come on for Orellana. The centre-back takes Mangala's position.

Both teams emerge from the tunnel

What a first half!

It looked like a bright start for Valencia as Mangala scored first, but Barcelona made amends in about ten minutes to turn the tables around. Mangala got sent off for a penalty on Suarez which Messi converted. 1 minute later, Valencia were racing down the other side of the pitch to equalise. Great start to the game and plenty to look forward to in the second!

Valencia goal!

Crazy first half. Valencia all the way at the other goal. Gaya pulls the ball back and former Barcelona man Munir slots it home.

Messi straight down the middle.

Mangala is sent off. Suarez is held back by Mangala and the striker goes down.

Penalty for Barcelona!

Parejo yellow card

The midfielder grabbed Iniesta and got booked.

Messi over the bar!

Yellow card for Mangala

A tackle on Messi earns the goalscorer a booking and a dangerous free kick for Barcelona.

Suarez with a cool finish after Neymar's throw-in sees him through on goal. Valencia defence switched off.

Barcelona seek an equaliser

Barcelona's last three goals against have come from corner kicks. Barca really have to work on set-pieces...

Valencia ahead at the Camp Nou

The corner kick was taken by Parejo, Mangala jumps higher than anyone and directs his header to the keeper's right, away from his reach. Good goal from the centre-back.

Valencia chance!

Munir was set free by a ball from Alves and a heavy touch means Ter Stegen has enough time to come out and send the ball for a corner kick.

Penalty claim from Neymar!

Neymar goes down in the box and Barcelona players ask for a penalty. Valencia players, on the other hand, want the Brazilian to go in the book for diving.

Yellow card for Enzo Perez

A sliding challenge on Neymar meant the midfielder picked up a yellow card.

What a save from Ter Stegen!

Pique's mistake in the box meant the ball fell kindly to Soler. The midfielder volleyed but his shot was met by a good Ter Stegen save.

Great from Messi!

He went past a few players and shot wide.

What a chance for Barcelona!

Suarez cut back inside the box and squared the ball for Messi who misses the first chance and the ball falls to Rafinha. He was not expecting the rebound and finally the ball is swept by Alves.

Chance Barcelona!

Suarez received the ball behind the defence and forces a good save down low from Alves.

Valencia counter!

A good response from the visitors. Good start to this game.

Barcelona put the pressure on early

Quick-paced start from the Catalans moving the ball around well.

Barcelona kick off!

Everything ready!

Both teams warming up for this great fixture to end a football Sunday. Many friendly faces in both teams; Montoya, Munir, Alcacer, Mathieu or Jordi Alba have all played for the other side, though only the Valencia players starting today. Barcelona are favourites to win, despite Valencia winning in 2 of their last 3 visits to the Camp Nou.
