FT: Aston Villa 2-3 Tottenham. Arguably the most intense and energy-filled game this season ends with the visitors taking the three points. Both teams were playing as if relegation was at stake here. Villa will be feeling upset at the result after their high pressing performance, particularly through Jack Grealish, who has been outstanding this season. Both teams had prolonged spells of dominance but the final minutes belonged to the visitors, who had several chances and finally got the win thro

  • 77'
Sanchez intercepts! Luiz spots Grealish to his left and sends a cross towards him in the box, but the Colombian is at the right place at the right time.
  • 74'
Jack Grealish is on his best season by far. He's taken Villa on his back and has created chances and been on the attack from the very start. Must be tough to be so good. Winks fouls him and it leads to a free-kick., but nothing comes off it.
  • 73'
ANOTHER HUGE CHANCE FOR SPURS! Very physical game and players are tired now. Dele Alli has the winner but Pepe Reina pushes the ball and the player out. Whoever wins this game deserves the three points.

Corner for Villa, Grealish takes it...

    GOAAAAALLLLL!!!! ENGELS HEADS IN!

HT: Aston Villa 1-2 Spurs. Son gives Spurs the lead on the brink of the interval. Toby Alderweireld made amends for an early own goal by smashing in an equaliser and Spurs had been pushing for a second since despite Villa's lively performance. Into three minutes of first-half stoppage time, Son stepped up to take a controversial penalty. Villa should not be discouraged; this is perhaps their best performance this season.

GOAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!!! Reina dives to his right to keep out the South Korean's shot but Son rushes in to kick the rebound into the net. His first run is poor, but Son redeems himself and gets the goal anyways. Reina is rightfully furious; no defender was there to clear the rebound.
  • 45'
We are now into the 3 minutes of added time. Son shoots the penalty...
  • 44'
On first glance, it looked like Engels got the ball but it turns out he only got Bergwijn. Spurs will get a chance to grab the lead before half-time!
  • 43'
Bergwijn and Son combine beautifully but a timely - but seemingly valid - tackle brings the Dutch player down. VAR checks...
  • 43'
The referee stops play as the officials look at Engels' block for a possible handball. On second viewing, it clearly hits his chest. Play on.
  • 42'
Bergwijn proving an amazing signing for Spurs! This is only his second match, but he's proving his hefty pricetag was well-worth it.
  • 40'
Spurs nearly take the lead! Davies plays a blistering one-two with Bergwijn and squares it to Alli who's all alone in the area! Reina saves Alli's first-time shot at point-blank range and Engels blocks Bergwijn's follow-up shot on the line! Villa survive for now.
  • 37'
Aston Villa on of their best performances of the season here. The midfield is creating chance after chance and the hosts are holding 60% of possession. Lloris makes an erratic save from El Ghazi! The Villa man tried his luck from distance and Lloris somehow saves... Although it involved going to the ball head-first. Ouch.
  • 35'
Tottenham miss a chance to take the lead! Son flicks Alli in down the right-hand channel and Alli bears down on goal. Reina comes out to close him down and Alli rolls wide. To be fair to Alli, it was always going to be difficult to score from there.
  • 33'
Grealish's corner leads to a messy save by Lloris! Spurs's defense is in shambles. The high-tempo continues as Villa get yet another corner and another chance, which Lloris saves uncomfortably.
  • 31'
Villa are no doubt frustrated by that goal. They've been the better team in the opening half hour. Luiz feeds Targett wide left and Targett fires a cross into a dangerous area. Sanchez finally diverts it into a corner.
  • 27'
Redemption for the Belgian star. Spurs' corner doesn't beat the first man but Villa can't clear it. Alderweireld makes up for his own goal by smashing the bouncing ball into the net on the turn from a tight angle!
  • 26'
    GOAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLL!!!! WHAT A STRIKE!!!
  • 25'
Tottenham clear the first corner, but it leads to another one. This time Grealish's delivery is wide of the far post.
  • 23'
Villa looking for a second goal! After a few attempts, Grealish catches Drinkwater's pass into the box and centres for Samatta. It ends in a Villa corner. Dier is furious, and rightfully so. Very leaky defense here.
  • 21'
El Ghazi sends another cross into Tottenham's box and Samatta gets in front of Spurs' two centre-backs to head, but it's well wide. The Dutch winger is causing the visitors serious trouble.
  • 21'
Tottenham's first real attack. While Alderweireld is treated off the pitch after being winded blocking a shot, the visitors break down the right through Steven Bergwijn. His floated cross to the back post finds a Dele Alli charging into the box but he can only divert his header wide across goal.
  • 18'
WHAT A BLOCK BY BEN DAVIS! A stunning chance created by Grealish - no wonder he's linked to half the Premier League's teams - who effortlessly carries the ball upfield down the left. Grealish rolls the ball across the six-yard box where Villa are queuing up. Douglas Luiz is among those lurking towards the far post and Douglas Luiz smacks the ball goalwards, but Ben Davies is clinical.
  • 16'
Lucas Moura shoots from outside the box but it's just wide! The best chance Spurs have gotten until now.
  • 14'
Kortney Hause makes a timely block to deny Dele Alli! Son had weaved his way through before laying the ball off to Alli inside the box. Alli did everything right, steering the ball across goal – but there was Hause to intervene.
  • 12'
Completely one-sided here. Spurs can hardly get a kick as Jack Grealish fires just wide.
  • 10'
It's been an insanely lively start to the game. It does not feel like it's matchday 26 here. Both teams playing as if they were about to lose promotion or a spot in the UCL.
  • 8'
GOAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLL!!!! Alderweireld gets his bearings all wrong, making a mess of an El Ghazi cross from the right and inadvertently putting the ball beyond Hugo Lloris. Painful own-goal for Mourinho's men, but Villa definitely been the better side here.
  • 6'
Douglas Luiz inadvertently stands on Moura’s hand and, moments later, we have round two of Aurier v Grealish. Aurier left a little on the Villa captain. That ticking off by Martin Atkinson seems to resemble something of a final warning.
  • 4'
Ghazi and Targett stand over the free-kick, about 30 yards from goal. El Ghazi steps forward and swishes a decent right-footed effort over the crossbar.
  • 3'
Aurier loses possession and Villa come forward down their right. The home side get a free-kick as Aurier brings Grealish down off the ball.
  • 2'
Ezri Konsa makes a painful but fair challenge on Son as the Spurs forward tries to break forward. The Tottenham man requires some early treatment.
  • 1'
    And we're off!!
