FT: ARSENAL 1-3 MANCHESTER UNITED-- Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's midas touch continues for the 'Red Devils'; another win, another three goals, and a brave tactical approach in the second half that ultimately proved decisive. In spite of building significant pressure, hosts Arsenal lacked enough of an end product to trouble the score line in the second half. So, United roll on and Arsenal bow out.

HT: ARSENAL 1-2 MANCHESTER UNITED- The visitors lead at the break, but it could easily have been two goals apiece. The match threatened to fall flat of expectations, but a sudden burst of impetus for both sides, leaves the match finely poised ahead of the second half.

CORNER ARSENAL- A chance to grab the equaliser before the interval, but can the hosts make the most of it?
  • 41'
GOOOAAALLLL ARSENAL! 1-2! Arsenal overload the front post, the ball is then played behind that crowd of players to the back post, and Aubameyang is on hand to tap home into an empty net! Game on at the Emirates!
  • 40'
CORNER ARSENAL- can the 'gunners' get a goal back here?
  • 37'
So in a rather odd first half, United lead by two goals to nil in spite of not threatening the Arsenal goal for the first half hour of proceedings. Arsenal are now pushing to get back into the game, but the more they do this, the more vulnerable they look on the counter attack. United look threatening now, especially in the forms of Lukaku and Sanchez, who look to be reaping the rewards of sky high confidence under their interim boss.
  • 32'
GOOOAAALLL UNITED! 0-2! Just as Arsenal go gung-ho to get back into it, United break. First Shaw, then Lukaku break up the right hand side of the field, before the Belgian picks out Lingard in the middle. The Englishman takes one touch and slides the ball past Cech with ease. United with a double sucker-punch to take a commanding lead!
  • 30'
GOOOOAAALLL UNITED! 0-1! As predicted, Alexis Sanchez makes a goal scoring return to the Emirates. Lukaku slips Sanchez into the channel and the Chilean sidesteps Cech, before cutting his finish back into the opposite top corner of the net! United ahead!
  • 28'
CORNER ARSENAL- A chance to get an effort at goal here?
  • 25'
Still no chances of note, as this cup tie appears to be heading into cagey territory instead of an exciting end to end encounter.
  • 22'
OFFSIDE UNITED- Lukaku steals into the channel behind Kolasinac, but the flag halts his run in its tracks.
  • 20'

  • 18'
INJURY ARSENAL- Sokratis attempts an aerial challenge with Lukaku, but lands awkwardly on his ankle and looks unable to continue.
  • 15'
Not the fast paced start to the match as many would have hoped for, as the teams are taking a while to get into their respective strides. Nonetheless, both sides have gotten into decent attacking areas, so if they can muster a good final pass, we could see a great number of goals this evening.
  • 10'
CHANCE UNITED- Pogba combine with Sanchez to get into the penalty area, but Cech reads the danger well and smothers the ball at the feet of the Frenchman.
  • 6'
Not much in the way of goal mouth action so far in this game. Both sides seem confident in possession and look intent to attack at any given opportunity. It should be a great game for the neutral.
  • 2'
CORNER UNITED- An early chance to test the Arsenal defence here...
  • 1'
And we are underway at the Emirates! let's hope for an entertaining cup tie!

In contrast, United have the luxury of recalling big money signings Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to their front line.
