FT: ARSENAL 2-0 CHELSEA- North beats West in the battle for London braggings rights. A strong first half showing, coupled with some ruthless finishing and mature game management, sees Unai Emery emerge victorious over Maurizzio Sarri, claiming valuable points in the race for fourth place.
YELLOW CARD CHELSEA- Barkley receives a caution for a late challenge on Guendouzi.
Into the final minutes of this one and Arsenal look comfortable. Barring a major Chelsea fight back, the 'Gunners' should record the most crucial of victories here.
CHANGE CHELSEA- Hudson-Odoi replaces Pedro for the final stages of the match.
CHANGE ARSENAL- Bellerin is stretchered off the field, and cannot continue, so he is replaced by Mohammed Elneny.
INJURY ARSENAL- Bellerin is caught from behind, and looks to be in great discomfort here.
CHANGE(S) ARSENAL- Iwobi and Maitland-Niles replace Ramsey and Lacazette for the hosts.
CHANGE CHELSEA- Willian is replaced by Olivier Giroud, who comes on to face his former side.
CHANCE ARSENAL- Another long free kick floated to the back post sees Aubameyang with a golden chance to get his name on the score sheet. But the striker, distracted by a hoard of covering defenders, taps the ball wide.
CHANGE CHELSEA- Kovacic makes way for Barkley in the middle of the park.
CHANCE CHELSEA- Willian makes a rapid dart to the by line and cuts the ball back to Pedro in the six yard box, but the Spaniard loses all sense of composure and blasts the ball over the bar!
Nothing much to report from the opening exchanges in this second half, with both sides just trying to get the measure of their opponent.
And we are back underway at the Emirates! Let's hope for more exciting action in the second half!
HT: ARSENAL 2- 0 CHELSEA-- Unai Emery's side are in control at the interval, courtesy of goals from Alex Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny. In truth, across the whole half, the 'Gunners' are well worth their advantage, as they controlled a fair share of the action. A lack of a clear target man is Chelsea's undoing once more, as they did get into a series of great attacking areas, but failed to carve out too many clear cut chances.
FREE KICK CHELSEA- Another chance to load the box here...
CHANCE CHELSEA- Alonso rises highest for the cross, but his header hits the post and falls wide of the net!
GOOOAAALLL ARSENAL!! 2-0!! Captain Laurent Koscielny makes a clever run beyond the Chelsea back line in the second phase of the set piece. He is found by Sokratis with a looping ball, and then with a combination of shoulder and head, flicks the ball past Kepa to extend the hosts lead! Arsenal in command now!
ARSENAL FREE KICK- the hosts now have a chance to float the ball into the box.
YELLOW CARD CHELSEA- David Luiz is cautioned for a late challenge on Aaron Ramsey.
CHANCE ARSENAL-Ramsey makes it to the by line and digs out an excellent cross into the six yard box. Striker Aubameyang rises to the challenge to produce an acrobatic effort on goal, but he doesn't fully connect with the ball and it skews wide of the target.
FREE KICK ARSENAL- Another trip, this time on Aubameyang, hands the hosts a chance to flood the box once again...
As we approach the half hour mark in this match, there has barely been any time to breath, as the action is being contested at break-neck speed. Both sides are seeing plenty of the ball so far, but only Arsenal have managed to carve out clear cut chances, as well as converting one to hold the lead.
CHANCE CHELSEA- Jorginho takes aim from the edge of the box, but he skews the shot, and it loops harmlessly over the crossbar. A much better display from the visitors in the last few minutes!
CORNER CHELSEA- A first set piece for the visitors, can they make it count?
CHANCE ARSENAL- Aubameyang embarks on a mazey run into the box, out-foxing Rudiger, and prodding towards goal. Kepa stands tall as he rushes out towards the play, and blocks well with his chest before gathering. Arsenal are getting ever closer to a second goal here!
GOOOAAALLLLL ARSENAL!! 1-0! Alexandre Lacazette coolly controls a fizzed ball into the box, turns on a knife-edge and fires the ball into the net at the near post! Kepa barely had chance to react! The hosts take a deserved lead in this one!
CHANCE ARSENAL- Koscielny steals into the box to reach the ball and thunder a header on goal, but Kepa reacts brilliantly and produces a sublime point-blank save to deny him!
FREE KICK ARSENAL- the hosts get a wide free kick for a trip on Lacazette.
CHANCE CHELSEA- hazard steals into the box, and is found by a Willian cross from the right hand side. However the ball is played just behind the Belgian and he cannot wrap his foot around it to direct it on target. Leno's goal escapes unscathed.
CHANCE ARSENAL- Sokratis rises highest in the area, but can only direct his header wide of the target.
CORNER ARSENAL- Another chance to load the box here...
CHANCE ARSENAL- Lacazette breaks down the right hand side before firing in a low cross towards strike-partner Aubameyang. Unfortunately for the hosts, the forward stretches to get a toe on the ball, but can only nudge it wide of the far post! The best chance of the game so far!
FREE KICK ARSENAL- An early chance to get the ball into the box here...
