Lionel Messi’s 2026 World Cup ambitions revealed by Luis Suarez

Lionel Messi's future has been revealed by Luis Suarez, who has stated that the Argentine captain is keen to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.“Retirement? Leo Messi has that desire to play at the World Cup 2026 with Argentina," Suarez told Ovacion. 

According to reports, Messi, who will turn 39 at the next World Cup, plans to extend his contract with Inter Miami through December 2026 to fulfil his goal of captaining Argentina's title defence in North America.

“We’re not discussing retirement as a plan to activate anytime soon,” Suarez added, dismissing speculation about Messi retirement.

Despite recurring injuries this season, Messi remains committed to representing his nation on the world stage. Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni recently called for patience regarding Messi's decision. He has insisted that Messi should not be pressured about his future plans as Argentina prepare for the tournament.
