Lindelof moves closer to Man Utd move

Benfica coach Rui Vitoria refused to rule out the prospect of defender Victor Lidelof moving to Manchester United in January, while fellow Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic also gave the deal his seal of approval.

The Benfica defender has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United in the January transfer window and it is understood that both clubs are in negotiations over the Sweden international.

Benfica manager Rui Vitoria did nothing to douse the flames in a recent interview. When asked about Lindelof joining United, he simply said: "If there are exits we will find solutions".

It is thought that the 22-year-old may become United's most expensive defender of all-time, as he is likely to demand a transfer fee of anywhere between £38m and £42m, eclipsing the £29.1m paid to Leeds for Rio Ferdinand in 2002.

Meanwhile, fellow Swede Zlatan Ibrahimovic would certainly endorse the deal. The Manchester United striker recently said that Lindelof was ready to join a big club, and is "hot on the market".

"He (Lindelof) is growing. He has a lot of responsibility with the national team now," Ibrahimovic said.

"Is he good enough for United? I think he is ready for the big clubs out there. It is up to him what he wants and what the situation says. Whatever he chooses, it will be good for him.

"I know he is hot on the market so let him make the right choice for him".
