The surprising termination of the Ligue 1 season threw up many questions. One of them is linked to when the transfer market will open.
Bernard Caiazzo, the current St Etienne president, explained that the transfer market will not start on 9th June as planned.
"It's not been decided yet, it will depend on the rest of the leagues. If they end later than planned, we will have to delay our window by quite a lot to adapt to everyone else," he told 'Eurosport'.
"We are usually a selling country, so it's right for us to wait until the transfer window opens in the countries which buy from us," he insisted.
Lastly, Caiazzo clarified that FIFA does not allow for a very long transfer window: "We cannot open or close the window before other countries and the transfer window elsewhere could even end on 2nd October. So we will have to wait. We can't start on 9th June and end it on 2nd October because FIFA only allow it to be open for 12 consecutive weeks."
