"Lewandowski was offered over €100 million a year, but he wanted to stay at Barca"

Having arrived in the summer of 2022, Robert Lewandowski is beginning his fourth season with FC Barcelona. Despite being 36 years old (he will turn 37 next week), the Polish forward finished as Barcelona's top scorer with 42 goals in the 2024-25 campaign.
A superb season that could have come to an abrupt end a year ago, as the attacker might have moved to Saudi Arabia last summer, a fact confirmed by his agent Pini Zahavi in an interview with 'Fakt'.
"A year ago, he received a firm offer from Saudi football. However, Robert did not want to play there at all. Barcelona is his place on earth, and he feels very comfortable at the club and in the city," he stated.
When questioned in detail about the Saudi proposal, Zahavi did not reveal the club that sought Lewandowski's services, but he did comment on the astronomical salary they placed on the table.
"They offered him more than €100 million per season. Per season! But he preferred to stay at Barcelona to fight for La Liga and the Champions League. And he almost achieved both objectives," concluded Zahavi, who is expected to sit down with Barcelona soon to discuss the future of Lewandowski, who is entering the final year of his contract with the club.
