Lewandowski is one goal away from making history again. If he scores against Atletico Madrid, he will be the first player in history to score in 10 consecutive Champions League group games. He would go ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo, who came very close to doing that.
The Portuguese, when he was playing for Real Madrid, scored in nine group games in a row in 2014 after Real Madrid's 0-3 victory at Anfield. The Pole last netted in a group game on 26th November 2019, when Bayern travelled to Red Star Belgrade (the match ended 0-6).
Afterwards, he continued to be vital in the knockout phase of the Champions League, even though he scored less. That does not mean he played badly, he was simply more unselfish. He continued to be a key player in Flick's side though.
But is Lewandowski in form to make history? Of course. In the latest encounter he took part in, which was in the Bundesliga against Arminia Bielefeld, he got a brace and gave an assist. If Bayern score against Cholo Simeone's men, there is a very good chance of it being him.
