As "Die Roten" cruised to their DFL Supercup victory on Sunday, one man stood out - Robert Lewandowski. On the back of an arguably-poor World Cup campaign, the Pole returned to Germany to give Bayern a reminder of his ability.
His first came in the 21st minute. Arjen Robben floated a peach of a ball into the box which found Lewandowski at the far post, who converted past Frankfurt goalkeeper Rönnow with a delicate header.
Just four minutes later, the Poland international doubled Bayern's lead with another header, as Rönnow failed to collect the ball from an inswinging corner and Lewandowski finished into an empty net.
Lewandowski wasn't finished there, however, as he pulled off the best goal of the night. An elegant turn from the big man on the edge of the area put him one-on-one with Rönnow, which Lewandowski finished underneath the on-rushing 'keeper. Three for Bayern and three for Lewandowski.
The scoreline ended at 5-0.
With the Bundesliga season comencing in two weeks time when Niko Kovac's Bayern take on Hoffenheim at the Allianz Arena, Robert Lewandowski returns to Bavaria with the match-ball and the Supercup itself.
