The Bayern Munich striker will play no part in Poland's friendly against Slovenia on Monday after being given extra rest by his national team.
"They have played a lot of games for their clubs and need rest," a spokesman for the Polish FA said.
Lewandowski scored two goals in Poland's 3-0 victory over Romania on Friday and the decision will be welcomed by Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Bayern face fierce rivals Borussia Dortmund on Saturday and the Bavarian side will want the Pole to be 100 per cent fit for the clash.
