The Edinburgh side have had an excellent start to the Scottish Premiership, and are still top of the table, but were well beaten by Celtic in the contest.
Brendan Rogers's side came out 5-0 winners in the match as they dominated the match from start to finish in all departments.
While some managers would have criticised the performance of the players after such an outcome, manager Levein took full responsibility for the defeat on his shoulders.
"I made a decision to try and frustrate Celtic, but we were far too passive and I got it wrong." the former Scottish national team manager admitted to the 'BBC'.
"I thought we wouldn't have the energy to go after Celtic for 90 minutes. I should've had more trust in them and let them go after Celtic."
"To be fair to them, they ran their socks off and put in a much better performance. Rather than try to be clever next time, I'll just leave it as is. It's my fault, I apologise to the supporters."
