TEAM NEWS:
Leicester City:
The hosts have had a longer journey to the quarter-finals in comparison to their opponents. They have seen off Fleetwood Town, Wolves and Southampton to reach this stage for the second successive year.
Leicester are three time winners of the League Cup, but given the pedigree of their next opponents, as well as the other top clubs in the second half of the draw, they will have to enjoy a string of stellar displays in order to add a fourth cup to their resume.
In terms of team news for this clash, the hosts will be hoping that England full back Ben Chilwell can return from a knee injury to solidify the defence. Other England stars, Jamie vardy and Harry Maguire, should also retain their places.
Former Manchester City academy star Kelechi Iheanacho, and Japan international Shinji Okazaki will also be pushing for a rare start on Tuesday.
Manchester City:
A shock defeat to Chelsea two weeks ago seemed like a huge set back for the reigning English champions. However Guardiola's men have responded in style; winning their last two matches, 2-1 against Hoffenheim in the Champions League and 3-1 against Everton in the Premier League on Saturday.
So far in the League Cup, City have brarely had to break stride to advance past lower league Oxford United and Top flight floundering Fulham. With the quarter-finals of this year's competition throwing up some tough ties, City will expect to advance to the semi-finals this week.
In terms of team news, the Champions are likely to recall a host of senior faces to the side, as the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and John Stones are set to return from long term injuries. Meanwhile young stars Aro Muric, Phil Foden and Oleksandr Zinchenko should be handed starts.
PRE-MATCH MUSINGS...
Claude Puel on the pressure to perform and cup ambitions:
"We need to respect this team as it is a great team, but also bring our own qualities and play with desire. I want to see the ability to perform tomorrow, to win this game of course. I have to manage a good balance in the three games to try and get good results."
"This is another challenge, it is not a Premier League game, it is not the same. After the game, we can try and continue the journey. We need to play this game without pressure, but with a strong feeling together to make our best and win this game."
Pep Guardiola on the title race and the importance of Family:
"I’d prefer to be in the League Cup (rather than have extra rest). It is what it is. (Everton game) was an example, maybe we didn’t play at our best because we were tired, but the guys are incredible."
"Many talented players don’t play well because of personal issues, it’s a huge influence that people might not know. I couldn’t live without my family, maybe it will help Gabriel (Jesus)."
